The Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) is the sole regulator of the securities industry in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The Commission came into being as a result of the proclamation of the Securities Industry Act in 1997. The Securities Industry Act 1995 (SIA, 1995)〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=The Securities Industry Act 1995 (PDF) )〕 is the Act by which the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission was established. In December 2012, the SIA 1995 was repealed and replaced by the Securities Act (SA 2012)〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Act No. 17 of 2012 (PDF) )〕 “an Act to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices; foster fair and efficient securities markets and confidence in the securities industry in Trinidad and Tobago; to reduce systemic risk and for other related matters”. The Act was proclaimed by His Excellency, The President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on December 28, 2012 and came into operation on December 31, 2012.
